About Mr. Hawryluk
Alan Hawryluk, Director: Salem Philharmonic OrchetsraFor many years, Alan Hawryluk was the Orchestra Director and String Specialist for the Salem Public Schools. In 1997 Mr. Hawryluk was named Orchestra Director of the Year by the Massachusetts School Orchestra Association. Mr. Hawryluk is Music Director and conductor for the Symphony By The Sea Youth Orchestra, Concertmaster of the Cape Ann Symphony, and for the past 37 years has served as Music Director and Conductor of the Salem Philharmonic Orchestra. A member of the string faculty at Gordon College, Mr. Hawryluk was the 2005 recipient of the Studio Teacher of the Year Award presented by the American String Teachers Association. Mr. Hawryluk received his formal music training at the Eastman School of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music where he studied violin with Robert Brink, Joseph Silverstein, George Zazofsky and Eric Rosenblith. He studied conducting with Frederic Prausnitz.
